Welcome

Cassava Acres is a young cooperative homestead and nature retreat in Lake County, Florida, rooted in a deep commitment to nature connection, regenerative food systems, lifelong learning, and intentional community.

Our name comes from cassava—one of our most resilient and nourishing crops. Thriving in Central Florida's soil, cassava symbolizes strength, abundance, and the sacred bond between people and plants. Cassava Mama, the spirit behind the name, embodies nourishment, fertility, and the life force of the land.

Who we are

Cassava Acres is a family-run sanctuary devoted to wellness, nature, and regenerative living.

Nestled in the heart of Umatilla, Florida, our land serves as both a home and a healing ground—a place to breathe deeply, move slowly, and remember how to belong to the rhythms of the Earth.

More than a farm stay, Cassava Acres offers an immersive agritourism experience. We invite visitors to rest, reconnect, and participate in a way of life that honors land, lineage, and the lessons of nature. Whether you’re joining us for a seasonal retreat, a class under the trees, or a weekend of starry camping, this is a place for grounding, nourishment, and renewal.

As stewards of this land, we are devoted to conservation. Our efforts include native plant restoration, wildlife corridor design, and regenerative soil practices—all to help restore a thriving ecosystem where humans and the more-than-human world can flourish together.

Our vision is to grow a wellness-centered community—from the soil beneath our feet to the nervous systems of those who gather here. Through shared meals, permaculture farming, movement, nature education, and play, we hope to inspire healing and belonging.

The voice behind this space:

Hi, my name is Courtney

and I'm SO glad you're here

I’m a homeschooling, homebirthing, homesteading, homemaking mama with a heart for community and a deep reverence for slow, seasonal living.

Cassava Acres is the result of a shared dream—a collaboration between my husband, a few soul-aligned, hardworking friends, and me. Together, we’re creating a space that weaves together land stewardship, creativity, learning, and wellness. What started as a vision for a simpler life rooted in nature has grown into a gathering place for families, learners, and seekers.

What started as a homestead has grown into a sanctuary: a place to raise children, grow food, foster community, and remember the wisdom of the wild within and around us.

Whether you're here to explore our nature-based learning programs, connect with other mamas in our seasonal support circles, or learn more about my work as a wellness coach, we’re so glad you found us, and please know this: you are welcome here.
